Mary’s Monday Musings to Quilt Encouragement
Weddings
The bride’s skirt swirled around her as she and her groom danced their first dance after their Christ centered wedding. The beaming faces of the whirling couple above the twirling dress and tuxedo brought smiles to all the observers. The rhythm of the music, the joy of the newlywed dancers, and the beautiful setting of the place made me think of the scriptures that allude to the wedding supper of the Lamb. Weddings can remind us of scriptures in the book of Revelation which speak of a marriage celebration in Heaven.
The joy that surrounds a wedding of two people in love increases our appreciation of the joy of the wedding feast prepared for Christ. Regardless of conflicting interpretations of who this is for, we can rejoice that this heavenly event is more glorious than any earthly wedding we enjoy. Imagine a feast that tastes better than anything we can prepare here on earth. Imagine a delight higher than anything we can experience here in this atmosphere. Imagine a Godly love that transcends any human love experienced here. A wedding is a lovely reminder that something even more wonderful awaits us in heaven. Such earthly celebrations encourage us that we can live our lives here on earth with happy anticipation of a better afterlife when we believe in Jesus, the Son of God. We thank God for the glimpses of future joy and the love He provides here on earth.
