Where?

Where?

Where did I put my glasses? Where is the meeting located? Where am I supposed to go? Where will I meet my destiny? The answer to most of the ‘Where’s in our lives is a physical location. If we have never been to this location before, we can reach the specific ‘Where’ by using our GPS, that wonderful digital gadget that gives us step by step directions to find a particular place. Without directions, we might hesitate to go to an unknown place for fear we will become lost. Before the GPS, we used maps. Even with these guides, we can find ourselves lost.

The best map or GPS for Where we should go and how to get there in our spiritual life is the Bible combined with prayer. When we ask God what he wants us to do, how he wants us to do it, when He wants us to do it, and Where we are to go, we will find His directions in the response of our spirits to the Word of God. He speaks in that still, small voice that whispers thoughts to us as we read and as we pray. If we are lost without understanding the mystery of the map for our life, we can rest content that He will lead us and guide us, even when we don’t clearly see the way. As we seek to understand Him better by reading His Word, the Bible, we draw closer to Him. If we pray as we read, our souls become more attuned to God and more willing and able to comprehend His message for us. Just as the journalist provides the How, Who, What, When, and Where of the story, so will God provide the answers to those basic questions in our life. Listening is a skill to develop. God help make the story of our lives convey the message of You.
