Windmills
Mary’s Monday Musings to Quilt Encouragement
Windmills
The road leading out of Dallas, Texas was lined with rows of windmills. These were not the old-fashioned, round, fan-shaped kind, that used to catch wind on many farms to draw water from wells. No. These tall cement structures are topped with three huge, long arms that rotate in the wind with a slow steady motion. These immense structures make an impressive sight. They are an amazing witness to the imagination and capabilities of man’s inventiveness. That such a large, heavy structure’s movement in wind can be converted into electrical power and energy which can be used in all sorts of beneficial ways boggles my unscientific mind.
What conditions or situations in our lives does God use to convert into something that He can use for unsuspected benefits in our circle of influence. Can we use the winds of adversity to generate something positive for the benefit of someone else? God’s ability to use us in surprising and useful ways can amaze us as much as the modern windmill does. If we yield to the wind of His Holy Spirit and allow Him to blow His energy into our lives, He may surprise us with an unexpected word of wisdom to open up a person’s understanding. Or perhaps He may move you to create some piece of artwork that touches a heart. You might find that some of your heartaches are just what He can use to blow comfort to some broken heart who needs help to stand up and face the winds of life again. God, please blow the wind of Your Holy Spirit through the blades of our lives. Make use of the energy You generate through us to benefit those around us.
