Youthful Enthusiasm
Mary’s Monday Musings to Quilt Encouragement
Youthful Enthusiasm
The young striped kitten jumped on the back of the old black and white cat time after time only to find himself rolled over and pinned down or swatted away by the annoyed old cat. The old fellow’s days of wanting to play were over, but the kitten persisted in his attempt to make a playmate out of the big cat. With youthful enthusiasm, the little kitten never gave up. After a time, the tired old cat occasionally gave the young one the few moments of playful tussling he desired. As we watched, the mature feline took on more and more of a mentor role to his companion. His interaction with the persistent small animal began to model needed skills for the youngster such as how to defend himself and how to signal he meant no harm.
What a fascinating example to watch. In every phase of life from young to old, we need Godly mentors to observe so we can conduct ourselves in beneficial ways. At the same time our lives also benefit from enthusiasm. No matter our age, no matter our energy level, let’s ask God for His enthusiasm for the world and for plenty of Godly mentors to steer us to use our lives in this world as a bright light to encourage others as long as we live.
